Spain’s wind industry association AEE warned on Monday that a proposed windfall tax on energy ​firms’ profits could curb investment in renewable energy ‌just as Europe seeks to cut its reliance on fossil fuels.

Iberdrola raised its outlook for the year after it reported an increase in net profit in the first three months, helped by the sale of assets in Mexico.

 Spain’s Iberdrola is set to tell investors on Thursday it will focus spending over the next three years on expanding and upgrading grids, as it builds on a strategy that made it Europe’s top utility by market value.

Iberdrola said it made an offer to take full ownership in subsidiary Avangrid for about $2.49 billion, in a bid to boost its exposure to the U.S.
