Shares of Whirlpool were soaring after a media report said German engineering company Bosch was considering making an offer for the appliance maker.

Shares of Super Micro Computer jumped after the company, alongside Deckers Outdoor, was tapped to join the S&P 500 index.

Whirlpool Corp.’s stock fell more than 2% in after-hours trading Monday after the appliance maker’s sales dropped year-on-year as promotions were reduced, but the company said it hopes to benefit from a housing recovery.
